The Four Agreements: Part 7 ~ The Toltec Path to Freedom: Breaking OldAgreements

Hello you beautiful people!

How has everyone's week been? I must admit that I have had a tough week. I have made a few mistakes and not handled a few things as great as I would have liked. I was upset with myself that I didn't always remember the agreements at the time but came to terms with it and started fresh all over again :) That's the beauty of life. Live, Learn and move on. No need to re-punish and live it. This is the second last post for this book and this week we will be covering The Toltec Path to Freedom: Breaking old Agreements.

Please do remember, this is only my personal interpretation. If you enjoy the parts I cover I do encourage you to purchase this book to get a more clear and thorough picture of the Toltec Teachings. Click here for Part 1, Part 2, Part 3Part 4, Part 5 & Part 6 if you missed it.

Everyone dreams about freedom. Financial freedom, personal freedom and a few others I am sure. But what is freedom really? And where do you find it or how do you achieve it. Since life is a dream and in our own minds.... So is freedom.

'True Freedom has to do with the human spirit - it is the freedom to be who we really are' ~ The Four Agreements

Who do you think stops you from being free? Your parents, your spouse, the government, religion? The truth is, we stop ourselves.

'We have memories of long ago, when we used to be free and we loved being free, but we have forgotten what freedom really means.' ~ The Four Agreements

Forget about what happened in the past and don't worry about the future. Be happy right now. Do what makes you happy right now and remember always do your best. Do not be afraid to express your feelings, be impeccable with your word, don't take things personally and steer clear of assumptions!

Love freely, laugh often and live in the now. This is freedom. Be who you are 100%. Let go of the book of law, the judge and the victim. Do not blame anyone for teaching you what they knew, as they didn't know any better from the domestication of the planet. Take responsibility for your life and be different, be magical and be happy. Change the foundations of your agreements. You now have the tools!

There will always be responsibilities and challenges, but the freedom that is encouraged here is to simply be who you are.

'The freedom we are looking for is the freedom to be ourselves, to express ourselves. But if we look at our lives we will see that most of the time we do things just to please others, just to be accepted by others, rather than living our lives to please ourselves. That is what happened to our freedom.' ~ The Four Agreements

The first step towards personal freedom is awareness.

'Awareness is always the first step because if you are not aware, there is nothing you can change.' ~ The Four Agreements

Let go of your hurts and emotional poisons. Challenge the judge and the belief system of your mind. You have the power to change your life, as life is but a dream which is our reality.

'To be Toltec is a way of life. It is a way of life where there are no leaders and no followers, where you have your own truth and live your own truth.' ~ The Four Agreements

There are 3 masteries:
- The mastery of awareness: Be aware of who you really are and all possibilities
- The mastery of transformation: how to change and how to be free of domestication
- The mastery of Intent: the part of life that makes transformation of energy possible - Unconditional love.

The path to freedom is breaking free of domestication.

'The freedom we seek is to use our own mind and body, to live our own life, instead of the life of the belief system.' ~ The Four Agreements

This was a very long chapter and to cover all it's content would be re-write to entire chapter. The 3 point this chapter covers that I won't be covering but do encourage to go read is:
- The Art of Transformation: The Dream of the Second Attention
- The Discipline of the Warrior: Controlling your own behavior
- The initiation of the Dead: Embracing the Angel of Death (This is not as intense as it sounds but covers that in life we truly own nothing. We don't know how long we have to live and that we should embrace life and live it fully)

My wish for you is to find your personal freedom this week.

Have you enjoyed these past few week covering The Four Agreements? I'd love some feedback before I wrap it up next week.

  1. I love this! It couldn't be more perfectly timed :-) Thanks so much for sharing!
